End of Life: Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008
After January 14, 2020, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or support for PCs running Windows 7, and the same goes for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
Akamai will continue to support Windows 7 and Server 2008 for as long as our vendors who provide the tools for support continue to do so. However, Microsoft will not be issuing any more patches, and vendor support will start to fade. What does this mean for you and your business?
It means you’re on borrowed time – even though things will continue to run for the foreseeable future – and it’s a great opportunity for you to consider the following:
- Why are you still using it?
- What does the hardware you’re running it on look like?
- What’s the business case for continuing to use that hardware and operating system?Would upgrading make your business more efficient?
Contact us if you have questions about your operating system and/or hardware, and if you would like us to review and evaluate your systems.
New Hire – Welcome Robert Perry!
Robert was born in Indiana, but lived in Michigan most of his life. He went to school for Information Systems and Computer Science. By building computers from scratch and learning how to program code, Robert knew that IT was the place for him. He enjoys nothing more than being able to help people with technology and solving problems!
During his career, he has been a server at a fine dining Italian restaurant where he learned a lot about people and customer service, he started his own business developing programs to teach people how to play poker, and worked with the Geek Squad as a Field Technician and IT Manager. Now he’s joining the Akamai team and we’re excited to have him onboard so he can start extending his IT knowledge and keen understanding of customer service to our current and future clients.
Robert enjoys almost all sports, and is an avid Michigan Wolverines and Denver Broncos fan. He likes to play the occasional poker game, camping, and most of all, hanging out with his amazing wife and 2 1/2 year old son.
