Introducing Brian Edson
Brian Edson is IT Solutions Engineer at Akamai Systems. He manages projects and implementations, resolves technical escalations from other techs and assists the team in matching up solutions for clients’ business needs.
According to Brian, it’s great to have a mother-in-law! Brian’s mother-in-law was the one who got him into his IT career. When his wife Laura and he were first dating and were right out of high school he didn’t know what to choose for a career. She told him “You need to be in computers” so he changed his major in college to Information Systems and the rest is history!
Professionally, Brian has successfully completed an Office 365 migration of over 300 mailboxes, implemented virtualization technologies in order to make business processes more agile, deployed and managed firewalls, switches and wireless networks across a variety of business sizes from small businesses to enterprises. He’s driven by and passionate about teamwork and mentorship. He feels he has been blessed with great mentors and teammates throughout his career, and he believes the two are closely tied to managing clients in the best way for their businesses.
Outside of work, he’s married to his best friend Laura and they have two great kids; Matthew, 14 and Jack, 3. Laura and Brian have been together since 1997 which accounts for over half of their lives! They spend much of their time taking Matthew to baseball games where he loves playing catcher and 1st base. Brian also enjoys the outdoors; camping, fishing, hiking and hunting when he gets a chance.
